MINONK — Services for George W. Krug Jr., 89, of Rural Route 1, who was pronounced dead at 6:05 p.m. Monday, Dec. 16, 1996, will be at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Paul’s United Church of Christ in Minonk. The Rev. Wayne Nelson will officiate. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Folkers-Froelich Memorial Home in Minonk. Burial will be in Minonk Township Cemetery. He was killed when his car hit a land scraper traveling in reverse down a county road east of Minonk. Born Feb. 21, 1907, in Panola Township, Woodford County, to George W. Sr. and Louise S. Bayer Krug, he married Marie A. Kettwich on Sept. 19, 1935, in Minonk. She died Jan. 24, 1977. One brother and one great-grandson also preceded him in death. Surviving are three daughters, Joanne Wilcox of rural Bloomington, Rose Spires of rural Minonk and Nancy Konwinski of Minonk; six grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
He was a farmer in Panola Township. He and his brother were turkey suppliers in the Minonk area. He was a member of Parents Without Partners, Woodford County Farm Bureau and the National Farmers Organization. He served on the Minonk High School Board. He was a member of St. Paul’s United Church of Christ in Minonk, where he was the organist for more than 40 years. Memorials may be made to his church or to Minonk Rescue Squad.
